I have always had my eye test screening done at the Drs without drops in my eyes .. The girl that took the photos of my eyes said she was happy to do the photo without the drops .. Muttered something about side effects and my heart condition ...now I go for the test .. and a different person and they won't do the photo without the drops !!
Now I am worried that this new person is not bothered about my heart condition ... Given the choice between my eyes not being photographed or a heart attack I think this is a no brainier ..
So do I go back and get the drops in risking my heart .. Or refuse and loose my eye sight .... My dabites was caught very early and I have diet only control .. With good sugar readings .. So what would you do in my position ...
I don't have anyone I can trust in my Drs to discuss this with .. The wife googled the eye drops they use looking for side effects and they can affect heart rhythm .. The wife had the drops in many many years ago for a diffrent reasion and has had no end of problems with her eyes since .. She did also pass out at the time they put the drops in as it reduced her blood pressure to fast. So really a little worried about the drops.

I don't know the answer to your conundrum, but I do know there is more than one type of drop they can use. I've only had one diabetic retinopathy screening done (as opposed to the similar thing they do, with photos, at the Optician) and I was given a piece of paper when I left which noted what I'd had done, what time and which drops had been used. When I asked what the paper was all about, I was told to hang onto it, just in case I had issues, and if I had issues, requiring medical intervention, the paper would summarise what had been used.

Perhaps you could contact this new person and explain your concerns, and maybe ask about alternative drops or options.

Did she say why she would not go ahead without drops?

Thank you both, its difficult to know whats for the best ..if the wife had had no problems and the last few times were done with drops all would be fine.... I do feel my heart problems are more important than my sugar levels .. but will control my sugars in the hope of getting the Dr to accept that the LCHF diet works ... thats if they ever bother to ask what I am doing to keep my sugars down and my weight loss.
thank you again for your replies
