My consultant wrote a letter to my GP saying the Libre would be beneficial for me, would the GP be willing to prescribe the sensors given I don't meet the nhs requirements. I mentioned this as an afterthought at yesterday's appointment, pretty sure it was going to be a no.
My GP said yep, certainly, I'll just phone the practice diabetes nurse. I pointed out I don't meet the conditions (again). Not a problem, if the consultant thinks it's a good idea that's all I need. She tried really hard to get me in to see the nurse that afternoon THE SAME DAY expecting me to be walking out with a sensor on my arm. She had to settle for Monday morning.
I went in knowing I didn't qualify and wouldn't get Libre, and darn near walked out wearing a sensor!! I almost feel guilty reading the struggles some have to get cgm prescribed.
So, background reading.
The 'Abbott Academy', read, done, qualified for 'certificate'. I know it has to be accessible to all, but this read like it was aimed at a 12 year old.
The DTN-UK webinars. Nicely split into 20 minute chunks. Split streamed so pump users don't get the mdi stuff and vice versa. A mix of 'yes I know, but you do have to tell me', and 'ooh that's interesting' with the odd 'I want more data, where's your reference bibliography?'
This forum. Mostly 'what can go wrong/not work', 'how to fix the fixable' and most importantly DONT PANIC
Any other suggestions?
