Fasting and Metformin

Hello all
Could anyone please advise me on this.
Im currently on Metformin. 2 X 3 times a day.
I am considering the 5:2 fasting diet but am a bit
Concerned that I have to take Metformin with food
How do I get round this ?

I made some bone broth and had it before I took 4 metformin in the evening.

5:2 isn;t really fasting its low calories for 2 days out of 5 so you will be eating something.. just take the pills then?
