Hi,

I'm navigating all the things I can do to monitor my blood sugars. (Pre-diabetic / Type 2 borderline, waiting for final diagnosis) and have decided to test before meals and two hours afterwards. I'm not sure though, whether the test before breakfast counts also as the FBG? I tend to eat within half an hour of getting up, so am interested in opinions.

Many thanks

To be honest if it is only half an hour I would use it as my FBG and my pre breakfast, unless you are going to be drinking something like a Latte or fruit juice or doing some excercise prior to breakfast.

If it is simply a case of up test bumble about with a cup of tea and then have breakfast the one test will be fine.

I never do a pre-breakfast test. I just get up, wash hands, test, see to the animals, make and eat breakfast. No drinks. That is usually all within half an hour. I have worn two Freestyle Libre sensors, and during that time there was no noticeable difference between the level on getting up and the level before eating.

Thank you both. That's what I thought myself as I just get up, potter around, shower then eat. I've given up orange juice (sob) as apparently it's very bad....
