I'm a 20 year old male and for the past 3 years I've always been worried about being a diabetic. I've had symptoms like thirst, frequent urination, and feeling hungry very fast after eating a meal. Over the years 3 years I've never had a fasting glucose test, I once purchased a blood glucose monitor but I never performaned a fasting test with one. However when I did test my levels they were ALWAYS in the normal range however I still always had symptoms. I have also used urine strips that test for glucose and they were all negative. Only fairly recently (couple of weeks) I've been thirsty, had a dry mouth and urinated lots lots more than usual. I went to see the doctor today and he told me to take a fasting glucose test, I raised my concern with him telling him that I did not feel comfortable at all with taking one, because as it is right now even if I don't eat for 3-4 hours I start to feel like I'm shaking and get dizzy. He wasn't bothered though but then again this is the only way to find out for sure, so I know it HAS to be done. Can anyone give me tips on how to get through this without feeling like I'm going to slip into a hypo or something? That's what my main fear is. :( I always eat right before I get into bed otherwise I will wake up in the night with gnawing hunger, I sleep for 7 hours so that means waking up and not eating for another 5 hours and I'm always hungrier in the mornings. I just don't know how I'm going to do this, I know it isn't a big deal for anyone else but for me it just scares me :(
