had my second 3 month fasting blood test this morning will
know results next week ,i,m just hoping they are as good as last time:)
i,m a bit worried about my kidneys and cholesterol .my kidney was leeking protien last time
and my cholesterol was a little high at 5.4 doctor was hoping these will improve as i get my diabeties under control.

Fingers crossed - what were your results last time?

What are you eating btw?

I don't think a cholesterol of 5.4 is high, do you know what the breakdown is?

hi Sanguine,
my hba1c was 8.4 on diagnosis and 3 months later it was down to 5.5
my cholesterol break down was ,5.4
HDL 1.5
LDL 3.1
TRYGS 1.8

not sure on my kydney but doc said it was only up a little,
i am more worried about kidneys as 10 years ago i went to the doctor for a check up
and all test came back good.
so while i was there i had a flu shot .two days later i had blown up like a ballon
i had a reaction to the flu shot. and with in days nearly ended up on dialysis ,i was put on
100 mg of steroids a day for 6 months and finally my kidneys healed .
kidney speacialist couldnt believe how one day , all my blood test where really good , and 2 days later i was in kidney failure
all due to the flu shot, which i have been instructed never to have flu shot again. i would rather take my chances with the flu than have another flu shot .

Yep, trigs a bit high but still, pretty good HBA1C and excellent work going in the right direction

Well done

As usual it's what the NHS consider to be an acceptable level for cholesterol. I think the guidlines say anything over 5 is a bit on the high side. I was 5.6 and went on to statins (I know some think statins are the work of the devil but I've had no side effects so maybe I've been lucky) I'm now down to 3.4
I've been on LCHG diet and the HF doesnt seem to affect the level of 3.4 and according to the latest stories the advice we were all given in 1984 to cut out fats was totally wrong! Aparrently the tests were carried out on rabbits who were fed large amiounts of fat which clogged their arteries. Bearing in mind rabbits are pretty much vegan it's hardly surprising how it affected them

hi every one ,well i had my doctors visit today for my 3month blood test results
my ha1c was 5.6 3 months ago 5.5
cholesterol now 4.7 3 months ago 5.4 cant remember break down but was all good
blood pressure 125 over 70 last time 130 over 80
also my liver has improved fatty liver , the count for that was 300 now 54 so still room for improvement but heading in the right direction.
and my kidneys are no longer leaking protien :) so i,m very happy and so was the doctor.
