If I fast, my longest is 36 hours so far, my BG initially lowers a bit into the 5's but then slowly starts to rise again.
If I skip a meal it will often rise.
If I exercise.. powerwalk.. for up to 45 minutes it lowers. if I go over the 45 mins it rises again.
If I dance for 3 hours it will really rise .. into the 8/9 range sometimes .. I usually snack on a few almonds throughout the night to stop this.
My question is.. Is this the liver kicking in with a glucose dump ? Is this good or bad ? I'm wanting to lose more weight so do I just let it burn off whatever it's using and accept my BG and eventually my Hb readings being higher ?

As you are unmedicated (according to your profile), it's likely to be your liver making a contribution, from it's stored energy sources, to you moving around.

Some people get all out of shape if a liver dump happens, but I don't see it that way at all.

Leaving aside the liver's other functions, I view it's energy stores to be a bit like a rechargeable battery. When we eat, we charge it, and when we fast for longer than usual, we dip into it;s resources; the stored energy. As soon as we eat, or drink something (other than water), the liver prioritises recharging it's resources.

Personally, I wouldn't be too concerned about a short term rise, as I feel fairly confident your numbers would reduce a bit if you fasted longer, and you find your fast just "inspires" lower longer term numbers anyway.

I hope that makes sense.

Thanks @AndBreathe I'm hoping that will be the long term outcome.
I'm starting a fast today I'm trying 48 hours this time. and will be upping the exercise too. .. and I'll be picturing my liver burning off my fat stores when those numbers rise :)
