Fasting numbers

I just dont understand my numbers. To most people on here my numbers may seem acceptable but the differences between them are puzzling me and three months into this I really am trying hard.
Last night 2 hours after food I was 6.1. This morning at 08.00 it was 7.6. ( I have only had two black coffees and double cream. (I dont even like cream) but yesterday I went from 7.8 to 9.2 two hrs after 1 slice LivLife toast and butter). At 2pm after 6 hrs I was 6.5. So I havent eaten between 8pm yesterday and 2pm today and would not have expected a number in excess of that I went to bed on. If this is DP its taking a big chunk out of my 24 clock. Should I just eat between 4 and 8pm each day? Maybe I am just stupid and not understanding it all but please tell me because I want to improve. Thanks.

Are you stressing yourself out with this? My advice is to forget your fasting numbers for the time being. Concentrate on your before and after meal rises and keep those down to as low as you can (definitely under 2mmol/l and preferably less). If something is raising your levels too much, eliminate it. Testing in the morning and seeing high levels isn't helping you.

This is mainly DP, possibly combined with stress, and won't go away until your insulin resistance improves. The coffee with cream as soon as you get up (no later) may stop it from rising all morning. Toast won't, even low carb toast. You need fat. All the toast is doing is adding extra glucose your blood stream, which will combine with your dumped glucose. It may be that if you skip lunch, or delay eating lunch, you need another dollop of fat, which could be cheese or more coffee and cream.

Thanks Bluetit. You might be right as I have my follow up A1C tomorrow and DN next week and I so want it to be as good as possible. I think I will leave off morning readings for the time being. Breakfast is my nemisis because I only want something uncooked and plain. I am being successful keeping other meals within 2 so I am pleased about that. I am probably expecting too much too soon. Typical me though! Thanks again.

Good luck with your test, and let us know how you go on. :)

Yes, stop the fasting test for now, and as your meals are now under 2, maybe try to get them under 1.5? Ignore the actual levels for now - just look at the rise.

Thanks so much and next week I hope to post good news.
