I'm sorry if this has been asked before - I don't visit very often. Have tried all ways to lose weight without success, but have been impressed by the Michael Mosley Horizon programme 5:2 diet - ie two fasting days a week and five eating normally. I have done the milk diet used for gastric bypass patients (I was under hospital supervision) and do not find fasting difficult. I wonder if anyone on insulin has tried it ? I currently take 58 units bd so don't quite know what I'd do on fasting days (you aren't really fasting since you get to have some 500 calories daily anyway). When I did the milk diet I got down to 36 units bd. Has anyone any bright ideas ?

I'm currently doing The 5:2 thing combined with VERY low carbs. I'm extremely weight loss resistant, but it's working slowly. So far about 0.5kg in a week

Well done you - I too hardly ever lose weight - even two months on the hospital milk diet lost me as little as is possible. I look on it this way: if there were to be some ghastly world disaster we'd survive as we have such a lot of stored up goodness to fall back on ! Are you on insulin ? If so what do you do on fasting days please ?

Silly me, I can see you arent on insulin - but do you alter the dose of metformin on fast days ? I imagine not ?
