I'd like some opinions on Fasting and Trulicity weight loss injection. I am due to see my DN on Tues as she wants to discuss with me going on Trulicity weight loss injection, she wants to trial me out on it for 3 months. I do want to give it a go but a bit nervous of any side effects. Also would I still be able to skip breakfast if I did start taking it?

The manufacturer of this med declare that ketones are a common side effect of this med. We have seen reports of DKA being possibly associated with this class of medications. It is not clear why this may be, but the way the med works is to apply a chemical override on the pancreas that bypasses the normal feedback control mechanisms in the body that protect us, so the extra insulin that this triggers is not controlled (whereas the same effect from a sulfonylurea med is controlled by the feednack of glucagon) and this may under certain conditions trigger DKA. These conditions may be ~Low Carb or keto diet, fasting, missed meals. I would advise not using these other interventions while being treated with any of this class of medications until there has been more research into this. You ought to invest in some means of testing for ketones anyway, such as weestix or strips if your meter can do ketone testing.

This med should not be given to Type 1, but T2D on insulin should also take care to dose correctly IMO.
