Hi
Ive not been on here for a while. I started low carb beginning of February started really well on and off . last couple of months had not been good so I have started fasting.
Today my bg is 3.5 and my next one contour meter is red

how bad is this? do I need to worry?

I have lost 31lbs in total now

do I need to worry?

If you are feeling dizziness or light-headedness, possibly sweating or disorintated, then yes.

Assuming that you are not on any blood glucose lowering medication

If you feel quite normal then you don't need to worry.

I often get readings in the 3's and I have never had a hypo.

Do you use medication for your diabetes? If not, 3.5 is fine, as long as you feel fine. It's red, because people on insulin/some glucose lowering tablets are in the danger zone with low numbers. On diet your liver will just spill some glucose in your blood before you get in trouble.

It is normal to get low glucose readings while fasting. But if we have been used to high readings, then it is quite a shock to the system especially our brain as it struggles to get enough fuel. It usually takes about 2 days for us to ramp up our ketone level to bridge the energy gap...

Hi

I've only gone into the 3 Zone once when I was fasting and working hard. I dont take medication and it was only for a while.

I did feel a little light headed but in a quite nice way as I recall.

I think the advise about if you are feeling OK then its most likely OK is bang on...
