i get a reading of 10+ mmol/L when i get up and if i dont eat all day i can get it down to about 7-8 if i eat i will go up to 15+ i have been as hi as 29.9 a few times i am on 2 500mg`s metformin tablets & 1 80mg glidazide tablet in the morning and the same at night thats 6 tablets a day this is my last month then the doc has told me it will be insulin then borth
i get reading if i eat or i dont when hi my eyes go i cant see to good untill there come down feel like i`m drunk loads of feelings would like some help plz

Hi Trev

There are options other than insulin such as victoza or byetta/bydureon. You might want to google them and go to your GP prepared. Weight is often an issue for the prescription of those drugs. Are you overweight?

I would not go without any food. That's not good for you. As gliclazide stimulates the production of insulin it has to have something to work with - glucose in your blood. Your early morning high reading is probably caused by your liver dumping glucose into your system prior to you waking.

It could be that the gliclazide is not working or that your dose of metformin should be upped to the max.
