Since the pandemic with lots of walking and a more sensible diet I have lost one and a half stone from my 13 stone body mostly from my belly which has now shown fat pockets from 30 - 45 years ago when I used these injection sites with the horrible needles of the day more times than I should have , I went to my annual review today ( the first for 3 years ) and told the consultant about my swings in blood sugars which went down to 2 and up to 20 without reason , I then told him about the fat pockets on my belly and he then pointed out that I had them on my upper arms and legs and that was the reason for the highs and lows the insulin stays in the fat and then on occasions will release and give me the lows , That does explain what has been happening over the last few months and was nice to know it will improve my bg control by using alternative sites which are now a lot less than I thought I had , I did ask if there was any treatment available to get rid of the fat but was told there wasn't and I would just have to live with the problem . Obviously new type 1 s wont have this problem as the new needles of today are so slender and short they are almost painless .
