fatty lumps just under skin surface

Hi everyone
am new to the site but have been diagnosed type 2 a few months now and steadily coming down in numbers , at the moment i am just on Metformin 500mg four times a day and 40mg Simvastatin daily, since i started on this treatment i have noticed some large firm fatty lumps just under the skin on both my arms, the one on my right elbow is very large now 1.5 by 2.5 inches, the others are various sizes ranging from a 1/4 to 1/2 an inch in size, all are very hard to the touch and appear to be mobile rather than fixed to anything.
has anyone experienced anything similar since starting medication or diagnosis?
i have consulted my GP and also seen a musculo skeletal consultant, all i know so far is that they are not likely to be cancerous according to the various scans i have had on them,
I have now been refered to a dermatologist and waiting for an appointment, but i really would like to discuss with a diabetic consultant to see if it is diabetes related or if a similar reaction has been noted elsewhere
Interested to know if anyone has had similar experience
best regards
Moominstar

I've got a little one (about 1/4 inch) on the front of my shin, it moves about an inch if I push it. I have never discussed it with the doc. I did try googling for it but didn't find anything out as it is quite difficult to explain. If you find anything out about it, please let me know but I'm not particularly concerned about it.
