hi does anyone know how to get rid of fatty injection lumps i have stopped doing my injections in theses places but i like to get rid of my lumpsquicker are there any excercises i could do that would help? thanyou x

Hi

I also have these at the top of my arms and my legs
Sadly I don't think there is a way to get rid of them, as I have lost weight and they still remain.

I had been injecting for 35 years before I got a pump and only used the top of my arms for a very short time at the beginning.I didn't overuse the same area and used to rotate injection sites. I do wonder if the insulin around then(pork) was less suitable for people or less pure somehow. But who knows?

It only really bothers me at this time of year when wearing holiday/swimwear

I would love to know if anyone has any ideas.

Hi, I was only using insulin for a year so I dont have much experience but I read that massaging the injection site after injecting helps to disperse the insulin, I always did this but obviously I was not using insulin for long.

Hi Sally,

I'm not aware of any exercise that will get rid of these fatty lumps but you are doing well to stay well clear of the area as insulin absorption can be hit and miss when the area becomes lumpy, this site offers some really useful information regarding where and how best to inject:

Sadly

Lots of diabetics don't know that fatty lumps caused by insulin injections can be dealt with by plastic surgery. It's possible to have liposuction done and on the NHS.

I had liposuction done on one leg in the late 90's and am very pleased with the result. My leg is lovely now.

Ask to be referred to a plastic surgeon through your diabetes consultant especially if it is making you self conscious about how you look.
