Faulty Levemir?

Hi everyone,
For the past week or so, I have been having unexplained hypers. For example, I currently haven't eaten for 6 hours yet my blood sugar levels have risen in the past hour. (It is as if I haven't taken my dose of Levemir).

I was wondering if anyone else has experienced a bad batch of Levemir? I'm currently waiting to get a new pack from my pharmacy so I can test whether the pack of levemir I have received is faulty, but obviously this is causing a great deal of stress (which won't help my hypers!)

Thanks.

How frustrating for you

Have you rotated your injection sites, and it still appears to be not working ? I've only had a duff cartridge once, and that was through it being fried in hot Land Rover, unlikely to happen to you in this weather LOL

Also, have you checked your pen is working ok, delivering with no leaks ? ( Had that happen to me, over Xmas with no chance of getting a replacement , grrrr! )

How long after taking the levemir did your BGL start to rise, and how much by?
I ask this, because levemir only lasts 16-18 hours. A lot a people will split their dose into 2, 12 hours apart.

I rotate my injection sites all the time. I was thinking that my fridge was faulty and not keeping it cool all the time.. And no leaks either!

My blood sugar rises throughout the day - it's as if I haven't taken it at all. The biggest rise is in the morning before breakfast (i.e. went to bed last night at 6mmol at 11pm, woke up at 17 at 9am)

Frustrating!

I'd contact your nurse/dr...these are my pleb guesses

bad batch, ..you are fixing that possibility

you have a illness ..perhaps you are coming down with something..do you have sickday rules like these?

or you may need to do basal check with the new insulin

Try new pack of Levemir .
Test your BG levels if still with high readings ?
I would contact your DSN at the earliest
opportunity .
Its the weekend tomorrow - best to be and keep safe .

I use Levemir and haven't had this happen to me .
Could be with your faulty fridge - you mention of ?

Update:
I used a new batch and went back to injecting in my thigh. Levels this morning: 4.6. Sorted!
Thank you for all your replies

Great news, if ever in doubt always change the insulin.

You mentioned earlier you had some concerns about your fridge temperature, you can buy thermometers for just a few pounds and is a good investment to make sure your insulin is stored at the right temperature.

Thanks
I'm onto that one now, along with trying to get a new fridge off my landlord!
