Wheat, milk and starchy veg like peas spike me too. Today I had cheese omelette for breakfast, bg was 5.1 before and 4.7 after.BG this morning 5. Breakfast 1 shredded wheat, lactose free milk and a cup of tea, 2 hours later BG 10. Don't know how to stop the spiking. Yesterday morning 5.4 then fish (removed batter) mushy peas and 4 chips 2 hours later 11.5. What am I doing wrong?
Please don't despair it does take time for things to settle and you have made a tremendous start - you will learn more as time goes on as to what works for you and there's plenty of people here who will be able to give you lots of ideas.Sorry Julie stairs are not an option, I live in a bungalow☺. I have ordered the carbs and cals book today. My sugars have gone down from what they were, I just feel as if I'm not getting anywhere at the moment. I've had an almost constant tingling in my hand, could be linked to playing a game on my tablet.
Low carb QUICK breakfast solutions please
Cheese omelette, like Totto says, is a good option. I have it most mornings and it doesn't take long to make and eat.Low carb QUICK breakfast solutions please
I didn't realise that you have had t2 for so long, but it's good you are starting to tackle it now. This is a great site for seeking help and encouragement, I know I still don't quite believe that I have diabetes - it does seem a bit unreal at times but I'm going to do my darndest to not let it get the better of me. At least we are not alone on here and can help each other when we are struggling. Thanks Julie. I've been T2 for 18 years but only in the past 8 weeks have I started taking it seriously. I have learnt more from people on this sight than I have in the past 18 years.

I'd agree with the others.
A quick look on myfitnesspal suggests - obviously guessing portion size - that your mushy peas would be around 20gr of carb.
Also, the pedant in me asks, have you actually given up potatoes (as you had a few chips), or sort of given them up?
