Tyler, thank you for sharing that with me. I plan to keep working my hardest and I know good will come from it.Hey I was diagnosed at 17...I was really ill when I first found out but I was positive! I kept positive for about the first 4 months or so, then I started my second year at college studying professional dance. Then it hit me, having diabetes and trying to start a hard active career was awful...I ended up having to leave college and get a regular job to have a 9-5 life...past 3 and a half years I have struggled so bad, made myself ill and pushed everyone awaythe reason am telling you this is because I gave up on myself and lost all my positivity about it...be strong and you'll get through it I promise! Dont push anyone away when it gets hard and I promise you too that it will sometimes get hard but with support you'll get through it stronger than ever! I have now started on an insulin pump and its the best thing I have ever done...eventually you might be able to get one too anyways stay strong and dont let it take over your life! Beat it dont let it beat you xx
I do contemporary dance and I also enjoy pole dance too. It's great for my upper body strength. I live in Liverpool. What about u? XI have stopped dancing now as I work a full time job looking after disabled people. Pump is the best thing I had ever done! Styles of dance do you do? And if you feel like the pump would be the best thing for you there are different places it and be put so its not in the road. Eg...when people go running they put the ipod or whatever in an arm band thing? You get them for pumps...ones for arms, legs and tummys...but at the end of the day you have to do what is right for you and your body and over time you will figure that outif you dont mind me asking where are you from?.xx

It's early days yet and there's so much to take in when your newly diagnosed, in time you will feel emotionally well again as your bg begins to stabilise and you get use to living life with diabetes.
I wouldn't worry about weight gain unless it happens, as you say you eat healthy and exercise plenty so your doing all the right things, if at any point you do feel it's all getting too much then don't be afraid to ask for help from your diabetes team and come on here for support, we have all been in your position once over so we fully understand the difficulties and emotions that you are feeling right now.
Thanks. I supposed I just need to meet some more people with it. It turns out that I used to train with a guy who was diabetic and I had no idea until now. He is a dancer and has been very helpful.
How long have you been diabetic? Do U still find it hard?
That's great. I will definitely look for a group. There's probably a local diabetes group in your area that meets every month, if you contact Diabetes UK they should be able to tell you or you can look on their website for contact details.
I've been type 1 for 32 years now, I don't find it particularly hard now as I've had it so long I've just got use to it
Great. Thanks so much for your advice. You're a star.Well with contemporary you dont always wear leopards and tights...can put a baggy top on or a loose dress so covering your pump will me no problem what so ever! Pump could be an option for you eventuallyScotland, live near Edinburgh x
