Have been feeling down lately and this morning everything seemed to be a whole lot worse. Husband and I meant to be going out with rest of my family but after getting up the whole idea of going out and trying to have a good time overwhelmed me and I knew I wouldn't be able to go. I've got a severe outbreak of acne which has really depressed me. No one is being helpful either and I keep getting texts saying that I just need to get to town and I'll feel better. I've been crying on and off all morning. I've had a few problems with feeling a bit low with diabetes management but today is the worse I've felt in a long while. Guess I need to ride this storm out and hope I feel better soon. Could cry for Britain today.

Hugs its horrible feeling like that, get you go to prescribe some cream for your acne that will help or buy quinerdrm spelt wrong! That will help.

Must admit, not felt my usual self for a few days now :( don't know if its the stuffy heat or just the daily routines involved. Wife did inform me not to worry as many type 1,2s wil have "episodes" like this at times and just need to ride it out. She had been googling down to my mood change and found that as well as the daily tasks involved with diabetes the body is under alot of stress due to lack of insulin, and other hormones. there is research being done on this matter. Imagine my reaction to this conversation whilst already feeling pxxxxxd off!!!!

Hope ur feeling better soon and out and about, your definately not alone and there are people who will understand and those who won't through ignorance.

What about trying St Johns Wort? It's a natural anti depressant. The Germans actually prescribe it over pharma drugs. It's not instant but they do work. Holland & Barrett sell it.

Thanks everyone. It sooo helps to hear from people in the same type of boat! The acne thing has been ongoing for over 18 months and GP tried every anti biotic and cream under the sun. On a long waiting list to see a specialist dermatologist now. Friend told me yesterday that dairy could be a trigger? As i eat/drink a lot of cheese and milk i will try cutting it out to see if it helps. Will also look at the H&B stuff. Big hugs back all :)

Dear Riri so sorry to hear of your ' blues' lately. I think many of us have gone through something similar and remember that you're not alone  I do hope you start to feel better very soon.

Take care and sending lots of good wishes to you

Wishing that each day brings you renewed strengths, brighter times and a healthier, happier you

I'm sorry you're having a bad day. We all have them, I was there last weekend when I was struggling with other health issues and I just wanted the diabetes to go away so I could concentrate on sorting everything else!

People tell you to get on with it because they don't understand. Let yourself have a good cry and do what YOU think will help, not what others tell you

Hi Riri,

Sorry that you're having a bad day. Sometimes everything just feels a bit poo doesn't it?!

Maybe if you can bring yourself to go out you will feel a little better. Sometimes I struggle and don't feel like going out but if I manage to then quite often I feel better afterwards. Its tough to do tho!

As you can see from the above posts you are not alone in how you feel. We all struggle with the diabetes from time to time. I had great sugars for a few weeks and now they are suddenly crashing, so back to square one. This is making me very grumpy (!!) & a little down. However I will win and get my sugar back to normal!!

Hope you are feeling better soon.

My eldest son suffered from bad acne Riri and was referred over to the dermatology clinic at our local hospital, after trying countless creams he was put on an antibiotic called Lymecycline which he had to take over several months, it cleared them up eventually and so far it hasn't returned.

I do hope you feel better soon, if things don't improve soon then don't be afraid to ask for help from your gp.

Watch what medications you are taking if you start the St. John's wort. It interacts with some drugs especially anti coagulants. Might want to check with a pharmacist to make sure it's ok to take with any other meds you are on.
About your low mood, I know it sounds weary but do try to do something each day. I know it is hard at times.... Do you have a BFF you can talk to?
Kris.

Thanks for all the positive and helpful replies. Have showered and even that has made me feel slightly better. I was on lymecycline for about 8 weeks and it did start to clear the acne but the only trouble is it shot my stomach and diabetes to bits and I ended up in hosp I'll with ketones. Had a break off any ABs and then re-started after about 4 months and the same thing again. I was eating a lot of natural yogurt to try and help my stomach whilst on them but I just can't seem to tolerate then long term. I have great friends in work and I can text them any time so that helps. Sometimes family members including my husband are just too close. Will read the article on milk next. Thanks again - just taking on here help a lot.

That can be downside of taking antibiotics, just thought I'd mention it just in case you hadn't tried it Riri.

I think I'm affected by this muggy weather. I'm going on holiday next week. Normally I'm feeling excited and loving sorting my clothes etc to take with me. This year I feel I can't be bothered and the more my bedroom looks like a jumble sale the worse it is :(

St. John's is available on prescription if you ask your gp last year they had to renew their licence so was unavailable for a while but back now. If you're on the pill you need to be careful with this one.

St John's Wort is an unlicensed herbal product.

Please do not consider starting St John's Wort although evidence shows that it can have a beneficial effect in mild depression, it also has major interactions with many common medications.
Please read the information at www.nhs.uk/medicines-guides/ and search for St John's Wort, where it lists all the precautions and interactions.
Feeling low can be common, please go and make an appointment to see your GP, take a list of all your questions as it may help you get the maximum benefit from your consultation.

Good luck, with the correct support life will feel better.

I am not sure why the link has not posted but if you go to NHS Choices at NHS.uk and search for St John's Wort you will find the information sheet.
Life can be difficult when you are juggling home, family and work commitments, but things can improve , with time and support.
