Feeling strange

Ive been diabetic for 18 years and never really had mega issues apart from my levels always seem to stick at around 11, but ive been on new insulin called novorapid and the lows never stay where there meant to and a 6 will always go low, so end up eating a tiny amount to keep it there it goes up so that side is frustrating, but what bothers me lately is ive been really feeling the cold, i never used to and this was in the summer too, as soon as the suns rays were off of me i would start to shiver. The other thing is a sort of rushing feeling going through me, i never wake up and feel good, its either the shakey weird feeling when its not low etc. Has anybody else ever felt this way and is it anything to worry about?

Hi a88ie, i've been diabetic 9 years now and have been on novorapid for most of it. I haven't had the same experience with the lows but the feelings sounds familiar.. i often feel quite cold but always assume it's due to my low iron levels, but perhaps it can be a side effect of novorapid? I also sometimes get the hypo-symptoms (shakey weird feeling) when my blood sugar is perfectly fine and just think it must be a side-effect of diabetes!! I've just checked the leaflet in the novorapid box and it's no help, so am also interested in any explanations..!

I've been on novorapid for the last 7 years or so (been diabetic since 1984), and I too feel the cold all the time. I assume it's just me though - have always had freezing hands and feet, nose and ears etc. With the feeling of being low when your bg shows you're not, this might be because your body is used to running at 11mmol, so if your bg is now starting to run a bit lower (forgive me if I've misunderstood) your body 'thinks' it's hypo when in fact it is not. This is called a phantom hypo and is quite common. The only thing you can do is ignore the feelings of being hypo if you're not hypo, otherwise you'll just make it worse next time.
