Feeling tired!

Greetings fellow members, I am type 2 using Metformin tablets 3 times a day. They are slow release ones. I have been on them for about 18 months. I just would like to know, do others feel tired all the time? I seem to have little energy and feel like I could sleep at the drop of a hat. The last year, I have taken on a secong full size allotment plot and am now playing golf twice a week trying to increase my energy levels. Is this how I am supposed to feel. By the way, I have just turned 60 but refuse to accept that it is an age related issue? Any advice please. Thank you.

Hi Doug and welcome to the forum :D

Do you have a blood glucose meter so you can test your blood glucose levels? What are your readings like? High blood glucose levels can make you feel tired.

Here is a link to some information for newly diagnosed diabetics that you might find helpful :D

Please feel free to ask as many questions as you like. There is always someone to listen and give advice.

Hi Doug

I'd say it was time for you to go to the doc for a few blood tests as there are several things other than diabetes that make you feel tired including Underactive Thyroid, Anaemia and Vitamin B12 deficiency. Vitamin D deficiency can also be a cause but as you play golf and have an allotment you probably get enough from sunshine.

Hi, I'm a health writer doing an article on diabetes fatigue for Diabetes Monitor magazine and I'm looking to speak with someone who has dealt with this problem. I could withhold your name from the article if you'd prefer. Our goal is to provide practical advice for others who may be dealing with it. Thanks for your consideration.
