Good morning all,

I wonder if one of you could help please - I am feeling so unwell now all the time, I just about manage a day at work 0715 - 1630 but then have to go home to sleep for a couple of hours, from about 1300 my body feels as though it wants to collapse, it aches and I am so tired.

I have had bloos tests and they all came back satisfactory - so what the bloming eck is wrong with me ?

I am overweight and sit in front of a PC all day for my job - my blood sugars are a little on the high side. Type 1 for 31 years now, on basal bolus regime

My husband is getting so fed up of me being lethargic

Please help xx

Just noticed your post. I'm a T2 and have days when I'm exactly the same. It's a nightmare.

Take a day off work (if I'm working). Monitor blood glucose and eat very carefully. Usual feel better in about 24 hours. The problem is I'm not binging on anything or eating anything high carb. Haven't a clue why it happens.

Well I am due to go out for a meal with work tomorrow night and I have taken tomorrow off so I can sleep during the day andd be ready for tomorrow evening x

Do you thing eating really low card should help me ?

It certainly helps me. You've nothing to lose but sugar.

You will get used to it, and there are some bonuses because you can eat more fat - cream, bit of bacon, etc.

By the way, do you live in the UK? We have had a particularly dark Autumn and I believe this is affecting a lot of people's energy levels.

Mmmmmm bacon and scrambled egg

Yes I do live in the UK, Norfolk

Yes, I've just had bacon and scrambled egg for breakfast (plus mushrooms) and no bread needed to fill me up and keep me going all morning.
If you notice you are more tired on dark days, maybe get a lightbox?

I have a list of possible physical causes of tiredness. Which blood tests did you have done? Did they test for Vitamin D deficiency as that made me feel like you do.
  1. Underactive Thyroid
  2. High blood sugars
  3. Iron deficiency anaemia
  4. Vitamin D deficiency
  5. Vitamin B12 deficiency
  6. Depression
  7. Stress
  8. Sleep Apnea
  9. Not getting enough sleep or good quality sleep

I do suffer from some of the above.

Sleep apenea - I have a cpap machine and my blood oxygen levels are 98%
Depression - slowley reducing my meds form 300mg

And of coure I can sleep for England.

The Dr just said full blood tests, I am not sure if that includes any vitamin deficency. Would taking a Vit B suplement from the chemist help ?

I would ask for Vitamin D. It is not done routinely as apparently it is an expensive test. If you are indoors a lot especially in summer you may not have enough stores of it. I always get a printout of my results so I can see what I have been tested for.

Thanks Denise, I've asked for a vit d test and am having it next week x

Vit B also needs to be requested. Its not a standard test.

Tiredness can be due to inactivity as well and depression.

I was diagnosed as having pernicious anaemia (after tests and stomach checks). And also fibromyalgia and treated for horrible depths of depression.

All wiped off from my records now. I also a 30+ yr T1. Wiped off I believe due to being genuinely happier in life in general, lots of vit D and targetting myself to get back to my gardening job when we returned to Northants.
Medicine? I had every antdepressant going, every pain relief, every counsellor, B12 injections (stopped 4 years +ago). It was because of my circumstances at the time.

Also what assisted me enormously was extra strength vit D, recognising what was the cause of my supposed depression ... Which was actually my hubby being depressed and thanks to @phoenix getiing fat in my diet. (I've always been a low carber-but wasn't having enough fats).

Do get tests done as there may well be physical causes to your problems.
Mine, was that I was actually overwhelmed by my circumstances and not pushing myself physically.
