Feet, circulation and all that

Is anyone out there doing something proactive to help with feet and circulation?

My circulation wasn't great before diagnosis and I suspect that feet and circulation are one of my weak points for the future. I have been looking at gel insoles advertised on the DUK website and a thing that looks like scales which is advertised on TV.

Before I go investing in gadgets, does anyone have experience of any of them?

Has anyone got some other tips on how to persuade my sluggish blood to take a jog down to my toes?

Keep moving if you can is good for circulation, I massage foot cream into my feet every morning after showering but don't use any gadgets so can't say if they help.

I was told that the calf muscles act like pumps as far as circulation goes. It might be a bit much to call them extra hearts but it might do as an analogy. Walking and exercising the legs in general causes them to work.

People who take long flights are advised to exercise their feet even if they remain in their seats because the long inactivity has caused thrombosis. You can flex them up and down and rotate them etc.

That's about all I know of the subject.

Yes, definitely lots of leg and foot exercising, stretching and curling toes whilst sitting down, eg watching TV, stretching out legs, rotating and flexing ankles, lift one leg, then the other, really fast as if you are chair running, do all of those and you will feel the blood pumping through your legs and feet.

Massage your feet using a good cream/bodybutter.

Good health to you and all

There was a small bit in the Mail's Good Health pages today about Incredi-Socks. Says they are extra soft cushioned compression socks designed to help diabetics with poor circulation. No web page just a phone number 02077201441 they are rather expensive at £39.99 a pair but might be worth a phone call to enquire about them.

I have severe and agonising neuropathy in both my feet and circulation has been a real worry for the last few years.
I saw the same tv advert as you, I think your refering to the circulation booster. It's around £200 so it's not cheap I saved up for it and recently started using it. My right leg doesn't react to the pulses very well but I do think it is helping with the circulation overall. They let you try it for free for 30 days so if it doesn't suit or work for you, you can return it to them. Hope it helps. Regards

My podiatrist suggested moisturizing with creams E45 to keep the skin soft and to massage. I was worried about my feet, toes are prone to go blue... but she reckoned my foot pulse was good and responses better than average..
