Hi I have been a type 1 diabetic for over 30 years and for the the last year my feet have been giving me a strange tingerling sensation. It's as if I'm walking on air . Very strange , does anyone else suffer with this condition , and could anybody please give me any advice on this . Many thanks Mark

Hi @Mark_Goldenfield_

Are you aware of the following diabetic complication?

Do you attend your annual diabetic screenings? These screenings should include an examination of your feet, so any issues that you may have should get detected there.

It is always possible that what you're experiencing may not be related to your diabetes. However, tingling feet is a classic symptom presented by diabetics with neuropathy - and given your time period with the condition - it could be entirely possible that this is what you're experiencing.

Thanks Grant for your kind reply . I do attend regular diabetic screenings but wasn't detected on my last visit . It doesn't occur all the time but when it does I know about it

That's no problem:)

Although the foot screening involves the nurse stabbing your feet with a wee spike, that in itself isn't really that conclusive in diagnosing nerve damage. It may be that you require some further, more in depth tests, at least to rule nerve damage out at least.

I'm sure if your GP, DSN or diabetologist could arrange for you to see the correct people, if you were to bring your concerns up at your next visit. Good luck!

I hear a lot about laser treatment for neuropathy it is not cheap and not covered by our Medicare ,
has anyone had success with it .?
