I feel miserable this winter... Its a fact if you diabetes isn't under control and you have blood pressure issues it can bring on a feeling of depression...Hi
It’s been quite a while since I’ve been on here as I’m ashamed to say that after being told not to test any more as I should know what to eat etc (3 months from diagnosis) I kind of pretended I wasn’t T2 and could carry on as normal bury my head and start again after a couple of weeks.. I felt like a child I had been told off by the D nurse and as I couldn’t get test strips any more I wasn’t able to see how bad I was getting. So all weight loss and and control of myself has gone.
How do you all keep going or if like me get it wrong and need to start looking after myself again
A very miserable unfit very lethargic me needs some help please

Thank you do you know which brand is cheapest as don’t have a lot of funds for strips I have a next one monitor I thinkYou have taken the first step by coming back on here.
My advice is go back to basics, forget everything that closed minded nurse said to you, buy yourself a meter and plenty of strips, start testing regularly before and after meals, keep a food diary, and record your levels alongside your food.
Jim Layhey it’s lovely to know I can ask away on here thank you. I need to sort my mind set I can’t seem to eat healthy at presents biscuits and sweets are controlling meMy personal motivation is that I’ve already experienced what will happen to my body if I lose control. Without bothering to go into detail here, rest assured it’s all the motivation I need, with sprinkles on top.
The great news for you is that you’re not too late. I’m sure you know enough about this place already to understand that we all got your back. Chat away, ask anything, have a rant etc. You can turn yourself around with the help of this community.
Oh, and yet another diabetes nurse who should be force-fed pure glucose for ten years and then have some unqualified random person tell her how to deal with the consequences. See how she likes those apples
Oh Goonergal thank you yes I can look back at food diaries etc and I did enjoy what I was eating .Hi @gilllsmaad
You’ve taken the biggest step in acknowledging that something needs to change. Do you have records of what you did before that you can refer back to get going again? Did you enjoy what you were eating when you were managing your diabetes? I think that’s the key to keeping going - if you can enjoy your food and/or exercise it’s more likely to stick.
I totally agree with you johnEGreen testing was the best way for me I felt alive and in control of myself. It very powerful for a dnurse to say you can’t have that. I am determined to tell her when I have my next appt too. It's all been said all I can add is good luck with your new start and again no matter what you have been told it can't be stressed enough to use a meter and test it's the only way you can know where you are the blood sugar meter is our compass you can't find your way without one.
Thank you do you know which brand is cheapest as don’t have a lot of funds for strips I have a next one monitor I think
