A long rambling story just because I'm happy and it wants out!
Yesterday I found out fiasp has been available in the Netherlands from the first of september. I had been looking forward to it as I have hopes it wil shorten the time I have to pre bolus (currently on tresiba and novorapid), and I hope it will manage the feet on the floor effect better. Who knows, it might even get that spike down before it's even there!
So I called my GP and explained about fiasp. After my explanation he agreed to give me a prescription if my DN (who is part of the GP practice) agreed. So I called my DN, who never heard of fiasp either. She wasn't exactly happy to prescribe something she didn't know, but after much explaining she decided to go with the information provided by me (I've stated that I love her before, she really likes me hoarding knowledge and teaching her stuff. And I bring her fresh eggs from my chickens with every appointment, I guess that helps as well
). The last hurdle was the insurance company. I decided to give them a call as I correctly feared their system wouldn't be completely up to date. Explained the whole thing again and they didn't have a clue so promised to call me back. They did and told me they couldn't pay for it without letters from GP and DN stating why I needed a new insulin. I explained more about fiasp, they went to look up things and speak to people higher up and in the end they had to conclude they would have to pay for it, according to their own rules
So I get to pick up my fiasp this friday or early next week!
Thank you all for providing me with all the information I needed to convince GP, DN and insurance company!
