I just wanted to share this small success.

This week I have succeeded in getting my blood glucose level to be stable in the 6.3 range - over the past few days the readings have remained below 8.0 - not reaching that in most cases, today it has remained in the 6.4 range.
I wanted to share what I have done to get this result:

Breakfast - Plain Full Fat Greek Yogurt - some days just that other days with a few blueberries
Lunch - Cheese Salad with tomato, cucumber, beetroot, spring onion and mayo
Snacks - 6 baked cashew nuts and 1 apple
Dinner - Chicken, 3 new potatoes and cabbage - small amount of gravy
I have varied the meat - had lamb chops one night

Perhaps a little boring as meals go but for me it has given me stable Blood Glucose levels for the first time and I am just a little bit pleased with myself - I am taking every small achievement because I was feeling so down about the whole situation not so long ago. I appreciate it is just a start and many of you here have managed to get to a point of stabilizing your sugar levels so much quicker than I did but I did keep going.

My testing showed me that all carbohydrates affect my sugar levels - potatoes being the best of them all with the least affect on sugar levels.

Now what I would like to do is to find an alternative 'flour' that will make me a 'Yorkshire' pudding that I could have with a Sunday Dinner............ Going to be trying Rye Flour this weekend
I have got to the point where I am trying to finding alternatives to the things I really miss............

But for now I am simply happy to have achieved this target and hope that providing I can stick to the routine it might just fall a little further, so when I go for my next HbA1c it might just come back with a much better reading.

Thank you all for A) reading, B) taking time to reply and C) for being there to help - I could not have gone through the past year without having found this site.

well done, it sounds as though you have found a way of eating which suits you. What was your last HBA1C result?

Thank you for sharing your good news, it's great when you start seeing good results and we all know and appreciate the trial and errors of getting there. It's really not so bad once you get your head around planning meals and bit by bit I find that I no longer miss the odd dessert or treat. It's also good to feel well and have more energy - good on you and I wish you continued success!!

That's great news.

For your low carb Yorkies, I couldn't share any personal experience there, but Dr Google has pages of ideas (I Googled, "Low carb Yorkshire pudding"). Most seem to use almond or coconut flour, but I imagine you would use less liquid without the grain.

Well done @srobertson06 , I would prefer to have personal success but in the temporary absence of that I would take celebrating your good news every time! You have every right to be proud - take a pat on the back!

6.7 - doctor not happy with this and wants it lower
Not sure what 6.7 is, my surgery works in a different measurement. The important thing is to check what the reading is after 3 months of your new way of eating. It sounds as though it's probably working ,
