After a 5 day glucose monitor, the evidence shows how unstable my type 1 diabetes is, and has been for the 18 years I've had it. My body produces no insulin itself and I am majorly insulin resistant, I have now been put on a new insulin and in the past two days my blood sugar hasn't gone any higher than 12!!!! I'm so happy, and feel amazing!!

Well done!! It must be really nerve-wrecking not being stable for such a long time. I wish you to be as healthy as possible from now on! Keep it up!!

Thankyou, it is amazing. I'm also on a special tablet which help releases the sugar and it is working amazingly. I'm amazed at how instant the results were!!!

Great news there Ebony. Would you be able to share the name of the tabllet you take to help with releasing your sugar, as it could be helpful to other insulin resistant T1s.

Hey, it is called Dapaglaflozin

Hi Ebony - Thanks for confirming the new medication.

Dapaglaflozin works by changing the way your body deals with sugar a bit, in that it encourages your body to pass it out in urine. In T2s, where it is more commonly used, it also helps with weight loss. I haven't read enough about it's use in T1 to be sure on that.

One cautionary note is there have been studies showing an increased risk of DKA. There is a link to a paper in this page: https://www.diabetes.co.uk/news/201...ncreased-dka-in-type-1-diabetes-98512505.html

I have no wish to scare you or deflect you from your better control, but just to ensure you may be aware of a potential downside to any regime.

I have been made aware of those, thank you, I have been checking my ketones, probably more than I should be but better to be safe, and I have not had any ketones, which has been a huge relief, the reason I am.using it being type 1, is to lessen the intake of insulin as I was on very high doses and gained so much wait and very quickly, so weightloss could be a plus, and mainly just to lower my blood sugars as they were constantly high. So far my bloods have been lower, insulin amounts I've dropped... But no weight loss which I've noticed.
