6 weeks ago I asked you guys on here for your experiences of starting Metformin. I was very apprehensive about starting medication (8 months of LCHF had unfortunately not helped with my sugar levels), but with a HbA1c of 9% and cholesterol of 5.7 I had no option. Well after 5 weeks I had interim bloods done - I have introduced some carbs back into my diet (and have felt better for it to be honest) and I have also cut out butter, cream, cheese, fatty meats - and today I got the results. My HbA1c is 7.6% (some way to go, but moving in the right direction) and my cholesterol has dropped to 4.4. I am so pleased. After months of feeling despondent I finally feel some positivity. Particularly in regards to my cholesterol as this is purely down to changes in diet - I really really didn't want to take statins. Only problem is I now have to keep shelling out £3.50 a week for those bloody disgusting Benecol drinks . Thank you to everyone who has replied to any of my posts you have been a huge support. I love this place!
