Finding it so hard

I am struggling to get back to low carbing after my holidays. I start the day off fine and full of determination do not too bad during the day, no bread/rice/pasta/potatoes mainly salad and meat some fruit. By the time it comes to now 9.15pm I want to eat rubbish. I am testing my sugars and they are not going under 9.2 at any time. Before I started low carbing I was sometimes as high as 22 although mostly 18 ish. As soon as I started low carbing went down to 6.4 - 7 but even when I am eating much the same now it is not coming down ! I need to give myself a good 'talking to' ..........sorry just wanted to get this off my chest :(

Also just before I went on holiday my GP prescribed my slow release Metaformin as I have problems with having to run urgently to the loo but they dont seem to me making any difference in fact might be worse, has anyone else found this problem, think I will just go back to the normal ones. Could the slow release affect my sugars?

Need to take more excersise as well. Got a 10K walk coming up soon so should really be getting prepared for this, just cannot get motivated.

Hope you are all well :D

Gosh you sound really fed up. It's rubbish isn't it, but there are some good things there. First of all the Metformin SR should have an effect, at least in my experience. I found it much better than the normal for avoid almost paranoid where-s-the-nearest-loo awareness. Some people find they need to take them with food to help this.

You numbers on the low carbing are hugely better than without it, so you know it works but you need to persevere with it. It takes at least a few days for your system to settle (I usually say 6 days) so you can't afford to yo-yo in and out of it. Tell us the meals that you're struggling with and we'll try and help with some suggestions.

Finally (and I know I go on a bit) but you don't necessarily have to cook differently - just don't have the spuds, rice, pasta and have more meat and more veg - if you increase the protein and fat you shouldn't go hungry. Find a snack to have last thing if you have tea in the evening - I use Jelly or 85% dark chocolate.
