I found the iBGStar device rather brutal.

The Accu-Chek FastClix is very consistent and the needles are very fine.

I've got the fast click and the soft click, I like the button release of the soft click better
Accuchek do make a button release with the drum, I think its multi click
Now all I need is a free meter promo with the meter and multiclick pen and I,lll have the set :)
What I found in my whole 10mths Is you push the pad over, towards the pen with your thumb and push a bit with the pen, this way I get a constant result

I use the Bayer Microlet which came free with my meter but you can buy them separately. Very happy with it and have never seen the need to change. I live in Denmark so I get the lancets and strips free so far I've used these lancets:

  • One Touch Ultrasoft
  • Vitrex Soft
Of the two I greatly prefer the Vitrex soft I get consistently good results with a zero ouch factor no matter where I use it. The One Touch Ultrasoft could be a bit aggressive..

I use the Accu Chek fastclix and find it very easy, especially having the drum. However, I find it hard to direct it so it punctures the bit of my finger that I want it to puncture. Sometimes it's miles out! I do get bruises.

I have now ordered a Accucheck Aviva Nano from Boots. Purely to get the Fast clix lancing device. I probably could have saved myself the money if I'd talked to the right people, but I'm tired and cranky and it was just a few clicks on the puter!

Accu-Chek care-line are very good, they would have sent one out for nothing, especially with you being type 1 and testing multiple times a day.

The prick is never where I want it to be - I try for the side of my finger near the nail and am lucky if that's where it comes. More often than not it comes much further inwards. Am I being silly here? It wouldn't surprise me.

No not silly :)

I don't know, I just hold it against the side of my finger and fire away, don't really aim for a particular area. Sorry if that doesn't help.

Which is the easiest and gentle to use? I've a nice little short one that came with my iBGStar meter, but at setting number 1 it can vary from just right, to not hitting the skin at all, to nearly taking the whole finger off. Leaving bruises at times! What's out there worth getting, and how do I get one?
I use the accucheck fastclix. It's great. I now use the Bayer monitor but have kept my fastclix as it's so good. My brother is now requesting one after seeing mine. The 6 lancet drum is extremely convenient.
I've noticed that I have to ensure that it is placed carefully on your finger to ensure even pricking.

Yes, that's the one I got in the end up. It's so much better than my last one; can't believe I suffered it so long.
