finger pricking

When I was originally diagnosed I was advised not to use my thumb. Following that instruction I never have. I do however use all eight fingers. Not all at once cos it would hurt and I'm a big sissy

Interesting. I've never used my thumbs. I rarely use my forefinger. Almost always the last 3. Some people use the inside of theor forearms, one of the lancer devices I've used had a special head for using the forearm. I never used it.
Dont think i fancy using my forearms
My lancet comes with a different end for what they call in the manual AST (alternative site testing). It says pick a soft area like your forearm or the palm of your hand, sounds more painful to me!

Thanks fletchweb the state of mine at the mo you would think id been doing it for 40 years i will take ur advice an try that

Not all lancing devices are the same so try a few out. My first meter was a freestyle lite. That thing was so painful at the lowest setting but I toughed it out until I won a contour xt through this site and could not believe how less painful it was. I was a bit dissapointed when they changed the lancing device with the next one but still so much better.

That "lancing device" that comes with freestyle lite is little better than a nail gun. I threw mine in the bin and the lancets went to the sharps at my GP's.

I prefer the Multiclix that I got with my first Accu-Chek Performa meter, as that is adjustable and I have mine set on 3½ and is nearly painless.
