Thank you all for those lovely replies. I think what has made that HbA1c result extra special is the timing. Would have been my father's birthday today he being a T1 and taken from us to early.
Pre diagnosis I ate all the wrong things, had biscuits if I felt hungry, frequently ate crisps & chocolate bars, always came out of the weekly shop with a danish pastry. Hindsight is a wonderful thing and that is the past me now. Don't even partake when the office birthday cakes come around, when I used to be first in the queue when the email was circulated.
Thanks to my dad (my hero) every time I feel temptation coming on I picture him there with that pained expression lying on his hospital bed and pulling back the covers to reveal his leg amputated at the knee and telling me he felt like jumping off the roof or remember him sitting there daily doing his home dyalisis the last two years of his life after his kidneys packed up and so far have not given in to temptation.
Bless you dad, you are my inspiration.
