After yesterday's mixed news, to add to the good side that I had yesterday regarding my cholesterol results meaning I can come off statins, have just got my HbA1c back. After my diagnosis at 98 followed a balanced diet and exercise regime and have lost 4 stone and now inside healthy BMI brought the level down to 47 in June and just heard the news that it is now 42 after just over six months since diagnosis. So all being well when I see the Diabetic Nurse Monday can try a period without Metformin. According to secretary Doctor wrote excellent control on the results.
Won't get complacent and will carry on with what is working for me and needless to say last night's tears of sadness have been replaced with tears of joy tonight.

Great work. A food reward is in order - a little bit of whatever it is you've missed most!!

That is awesome!! I know you have been working really hard, and I'm happy for you.

Thank you all for those lovely replies. I think what has made that HbA1c result extra special is the timing. Would have been my father's birthday today he being a T1 and taken from us to early.
Pre diagnosis I ate all the wrong things, had biscuits if I felt hungry, frequently ate crisps & chocolate bars, always came out of the weekly shop with a danish pastry. Hindsight is a wonderful thing and that is the past me now. Don't even partake when the office birthday cakes come around, when I used to be first in the queue when the email was circulated.
Thanks to my dad (my hero) every time I feel temptation coming on I picture him there with that pained expression lying on his hospital bed and pulling back the covers to reveal his leg amputated at the knee and telling me he felt like jumping off the roof or remember him sitting there daily doing his home dyalisis the last two years of his life after his kidneys packed up and so far have not given in to temptation.
Bless you dad, you are my inspiration.

I'm so sorry for the loss of your Dad. Do him proud, yes.
