so the long awaited clinic appointment finally arrived, was dead nervous i would be told off or given bad new and be put on tablets as that's what my doc kept hinting at in Feb, well over all it was good my results were:

HBA1c 6.4% (46mml i think she said, the percent is right anyway lol)
cholesterol 4.1
blood pressure fine
thyroid fine
b12 low retest in July

conclusion is shes very happy with me, i might have only lowered it by .1 but it has gone down a bit shes really pleased ive lost a stone since Jan :) and told me to continue the way i am and shes happy to let me continue with diet only control, although it went down slowly she said i can afford to bring it down slow cause they were never that bad to begin with at 6.5%

oh and why do they measure ur waist, seemed strange that one lol

Well done on dropping your levels :)

Maybe they measure your waist as the larger it is, over 30 inches if you are a woman I think, the more change you have of heart problems. Or maybe it is yet another way to make us feel like rubbish? It would me, I am a real apple shape.

Well done, keep up the good work, persevere with the diet and ime sure all your figures :D will get better.

Well done Hevab  You're doing really well :)

Well done Hevab

Well done hevab. The waist measurement is because a larger waist increases our resistance to insulin. Over 37 for a man is given as a sign of insulin resistance. Not sure of the figure for a woman. But a large waist means bigger fat cells which makes it harder for our insulin to put excess sugars from our blood into those cells. I think the actual measurements are a bit of a stab in the dark, because 37inches for me at 6ft 1in is not as bad as 37 inches for a bloke who's 5ft and a fag paper tall. But the idea is right.
