Good evening all,

Yesterday I found out that I have diabetes, and with a little bit of knowledge in the field of diabetes and a lot of reading of this forum, decided to start as I mean to go on and go low carb.

I’ve also been SBG monitoring and my pre dinner reading was 3mmol lower today than yesterday so hopefully that’s a good start.

I’d like to post my meals here over the next few days to get your feedback?

Breakfast; bacon, scrambled egg, avocado, mushroom cooked in butter.

Lunch; crustless quiche with salad.

Snack; 2xbabybell

Dinner; burrito bowl with chicken, steak, pork, sour cream, cheese and avocado.

Dessert; raspberries with cream.

I’m away from home with work so living out of a hotel until tomorrow. I’m trying my best to make sensible choices, but will be a lot easier once I’m home tomorrow.

Thank you everyone.

Making a good start with that lot.

Looks like excellent choices - definitely the right direction well done.
It is harder when away from home good rule is to ask about ingredients used when sauces and dressings are served with foods as these often hide carbs I often go for grill and vegetable or salad options and then ask for something like butter or fullfat mayo to serve with them and fill me up.most places offer extra veg or salad in place of chips or other carbs! Bacon and eggs good option too in hotels at breakfast and cheese can be a good alternative pudding. Good luck with the hotel food it is possible - you just need to be aware and ask lots of questions I’m now getting used to asking and it’s amazing how helpful most of them are -although they are not used to people eating high fat they are used to lots of allergies, gluten and dairy free etc. If you eat out anywhere else you can plan ahead as most chains have nutrition on line so you can plan ahead which makes choices much easier for you.
