First HBA1C since pumping

Just thought I'd share some extreme chuffedness with everyone.

My daughter's (7) HBA1C in October before pumping was 8.7%, she now has a Medtronic 722 with the CGMS. I use the Carelink website to upload and study her readings.

She had her pumping HBA1C last week ....6% woo-hoo...and that's with the Xmas food fest!

Just goes to prove, better information, more control...almost non-diabetic figures!!!

Also, any Hypos that she does have are very mild - rarely less than 3.5, pump alarms, we test and bingo...sorted within 5 mins.

All type 1 kids (as a minimum) should get this as a matter of course :x

Thanks for listening.
Chuffed Dad!

great news!

I think all type 1's as a group should be at least offered the chance for pumping as a matter of course, not just the kids!

Keep up the good work :)

Does she like the pump? By that i mean how does she find having it attached all the time?

Yes you are absolutely right, the best and most appropriate method of management should be offered to all. I just meant that foundations laid now will build a stronger building later.

She is getting on brilliantly most of the time, we get the odd wobble now and again but who doesn't. She says that she doesn't really remember life without it. When I think about how well she takes it all on board and seems to cope, I have difficulty keeping it together. That's parenthood for you.

Cheers.
Rich.
