After being diagnosed T2 last week I had my first appointment with the nurse today. It went well she is really nice not at all bossy..but I knew that as my husband sees her...she talked about diabetes and how it affects us and checked my feet which were fine. She asked how I ate and I told her no sugar stuff have eggs cheese yogurt no junk food fresh meat and fish vegetables meals cooked from scratch and hardly ever have takeaways and that was it no mention was made of the eat well plate nor did she say I should have carbs at every meal she didn't even ask about what carbs I had so I didn't say I do moderate carbs she was happy with what I said and to continue with what I was doing. My levels were not very high when diagnosed 7.4 and 7.5 at two blood tests but she wants me to take Metformin she said it helps to protect the heart I have to gradually increase the dose over 8 weeks until I am on 2 tablets twice a day with meals and hopefully not to much tummy trouble if I do then to see the doctor for the slow release one

Well that's all good news then. Well done.:)

I'm envious that you can have metformin though.

Well according to the news yesterday Metformin could slow down ageing and we could even live to 120 so I will look forward to getting younger every day... lol
