So went to pub with friends this afternoon.
Had tried to do no carb today to reset after this week and probably shouldn’t as I was out. So felt bit off and got my kit out to test.
Now I try to do it discreet anyway and just do it in my lap.
My friend says
‘Oh are you going to stock that needle in your finger’
So I reply yes.
‘Oh I hate needles and things like that’
I just didn’t reply because quite frankly the only words I could thing of were well don’t ****** look then so i stayed quiet.
So my friend promptly lifts up the menu and covers her face.
I have been diagnosed for 9 months or thereabouts and this is the first reaction I have had.
Not once has she said anything before.
Although she is a weird one. You will repeat what the words she used the week before but she will then say the opposite this week. Very contrary. I say friend but to be honest I am quite wary of her. As I said she bitches about people and the one thing I’ve learnt is that means she does that about me as well. But she is in a group of friends so if I see them she is there.
I no longer meet her separately like I used to.
So I’m just a little surprised that she said this.
And I’m a bit disappointed.
But in my rebelliousness I continued and took my sweet time
Hi, some people just like to offend as they just have to 'say something' as the end of the day you are just pricking your finger, no big drama in that and it's not like you are performing a surgical operation!!
Those Who Mind Don’t Matter, and Those Who Matter, Don’t Mind.
Lol!! I was thinking of asking Dr for a bigger needle just so I could really prick my finger (although not sure I’m that brave given its my finger).
I think I’ll just test even more when she is around! Just to be evil
I’ll probably just test more when I’m with her now just to make her more uncomfortable
My father, an insulin dependent type II, fainted on occasion if I even mentioned the word needle. A strange reaction for someone who would inject twice a day (he refused to inject more than twice). His apprehension when injecting meant it would take about 45 minutes. I also have a friend who fainted the first time he tried to donate blood.
It's your choice if you want to make her feel uncomfortable, but make sure she has something soft to fall on when she faints. We might find it totally weird that anyone can react that way to needles, I had to see it to believe it.
But if it is that bad, why not mention it in the last 9 months!! The first time I saw her after diagnosis I tested loads of times and she was looking and everything was fine
