That really is fascinating. And gives me huge insight into what has been going on in my guts for a very long time. Even going back to pre-diabetes I was always a farty child. Looks like methane producing bacteria...Chris Kresser has published a new interview with Dr Mark Pimentel of Cedars Sinai who is considered to be at the forefront of IBS/SIBO research. He talks a lot about constipation, slow motility, etc. so might be of interest to sufferers and especially the connection of methane producing bacteria in severe constipation:

Actually I guessed wrong, the delivered dose is 118ml. I loathe microlax... causes intense burning for me.
I think the ones you have sound very similar to the ones I have. According to the info below, it works in 1-5 minutes:

There are also other kinds now, which sound better:

Oh gosh that sounds horrible... you poor thing! I would say you're definitely not the only one. Fleet does a mineral oil enema, which may be better than saline for you, and it only needs to stay in for up to 5 minutes. But hopefully you won't need to have one anyway.Mine have to be warmed up first?? Definitely says hold in bowel for 40-45 mins!
All enemas cause me huge burning, horrid screaming pains when holding the liquid in and finally being anle to go..
Micralax caused horrendous intense burning sensation for me too. Worse than hospital enemas. Its only after microlax that I end up on gas n air, morphine and paracetomal drips. Thought I was just weak and stupidly reacting. So glad I'm not the only one!
thanks, good to know to give it 3 weeks next timeSince I added Flaxseed and Chai seed to my diet,my system has improved a lot ,it took about three weeks, but I wouldnt be without it now,I even take it in holiday.

I wish it would do that for me, lol!I haven't suffered from constipation but my stomach does gurgle away and produce methane with some foods. I figured I would try organic milled flaxseed in salad dressings. Only used 1 level tsp and I've had two rear end incidents. I thnk it speeds me p too well !

Dr Allison Siebecker is a great resource for SIBO and there are quite a few of her interviews on Youtube. She set up the siboinfo.com online resource that Tim linked to.
There are a couple of botanicals she recommends for gut motility - especially a German botanical called Iberogast. Another called MotilPro that you can get on Amazon. Might be worth trying.
