Flaxseed for constipation / slow colonic transit

I just checked the prescribing info again and it does say Diazepam can cause constipation
http://www.drugs.com/sfx/diazepam-side-effects.html

It also says there can be withdrawal effects if stopping it quickly so you may want to taper down as much as possible when you come off it.

I know you really don't like having an enema, or taking laxatives, but if you did take laxatives it would only be for a short time and if it prevents needing an enema then it's the lesser of two evils. If you end up needing an enema I wish you all the best and hope it is as comfortable as possible. The relief afterwards is a pretty good thing in my experience.

Hugs.

Also, I read back in this thread and was reminded about the joys of the 5 min Fleet mineral enema... might pay to see if you can source one.

My first reaction to this was s**t!!!! Lol!!

I was on 6 a day so cutting down gradually.... They do give me a lovely deep sleep though... My fitbit says I'm getting over 5 hours sleep and only 2.5 hours awake or restless! Will be interesting to see how I go back when I come off the diazepam....

Yes, going to find out about the 5 min enema at my next appt!!

Lol, s**t indeed, isn't it.

Diazepam seems to really help people with sleep and I wish I could take it but the side effects and risks would only be worth it if I had much worse symptoms.

I've never asked you this but why do you have poor sleep? You've probably already said this somewhere and I just haven't read it. I have sleep apnoea and before it was controlled I had so many symptoms caused by disrupted sleep, it was awful. So I can fully empathise with you.

Thought I'd bump this thread as it has a lot of good information in it and there have been some more posts about this issue.

I just ran across this Youtube video that might be helpful - she has quite a few that could be useful on the subject of constipation in general:

Thank you for this its worth a try.
