I am currently in the throws of a really bad dose of flu. I had my flu jab about six weeks ago, anyone else suffered flu after the 2013 anti flu vaccine?

Not flu. I avoid that even when my boyfriend was very ill with it. But I've got an awful cold right now. But sadly the flu jab doesn't vaccinate against colds!

i am certain i have flu and not just a cold. I have had 4 days of high fever, body pains especially in my back and a dreadful chest cough. I can't eat anything, if i try it goes straight through me. I have a doctors appointment today when i really don't want to go to but i must.

There are some pretty horrible non flu chest infections around at the moment, I been ill for three weeks now and feel rotten much if the time, coughing up green goo which takes a lot of coughing to shift, but judging by the fact I don't feel I need to stay in bed all the time and not throwing up, I dont think its actually flu. That said, the flu jab only protects what they anticipate to be the current predominant strain, not all strains so it is possible can have a flu virus despite having been vaccinated.

Whichever, chest infections are just horrible when they linger.

Hi all, yes my Doc says i have a bad case of viral bronchitis, nothing really to do but ride it out. I have had flu in the distant past and it did feel bad but so does this. However i can safely say tonight i don't feel as bad as last night . The coughing exhausts me and the wheezing ,rattling in my chest stops me sleeping. My numbers have varied from good to bad. Im not eating hardly anything and i also have the runs. So I've stopped my metformin for now and i'm just taking my insulin. Metformin being a bit harsh on the tummy i figure as not much is going in it can be dropped for a few days. Hearing it all the time, there are some very nasty bugs around. Happy new Year to you all and lets all get better soon
