My Dr as advised me to have a flu jab in September but in the my friends who had the flu jab and have said they would never have it again.Because it made them so unwell!

Some people can have an adverse reaction to the flu jab, but just because your friend did doesn't guarantee you will so decide for yourself if you want to go ahead, I always get the jab after experiencing flu several years ago and was terribly ill, apart from a slight sore arm and sometimes higher bg levels afterwards I've had no other reaction from the vaccine.

It was quite number of friends who where very poorly after having the flu jab which concerned me. Well I suppose I may give it a shot....lol

I never have it because. At the age of 52 I've only ever had flu twice in my life. I reckon I'll be dead before it comes round to me again. I work in a GP surgery and seen the uptake fall gradually over the last 5 years.

The jab is only effective against the flu strains that are put into it
Last year's was a huge flop because it gave immunity to certain strains but not the one that was most commonly around meaning it was pretty much a waste of time for the patients and money for the Nhs.

This is a bit of a controversial one. Personally...I've been having it for years with no adverse affects...other than a couple of days feeling a little snuffly but that could be put down to having a cold prior to having vaccine. The one year I didn't have it I felt like I got every cold going. I know it's not supposed to conquer the common cold but it does seem to have an affect for me. I only ever had proper flu once in my life and it was hideous...most especially on my blood sugars so I will continue to get the vaccine...but it's very much a personal thing.

I have one each year and, apart from a sore arm, have suffered no side effects. My husband also has one and he's also. However a couple of friends who have them do suffer when they have one.
