The flu jab is meant to prevent or at least minimise the effects of the illness in those less able to fight infection. As Diabetics we at higher risk of not only getting flu but with a weakened immune system less able to fight infection. Personally I still get a horrendous cold which makes me suffer but it's nothing compared to the flu virus, a lot of people have it, a lot of people don't and the jab isn't 100% but if he did get flu iit would not be as severe. At the end of the day it's down to personal choiceAny thoughts or suggestions on this . We are newly diagnosed . I am the mother of a 10 yr old T1 little boyI am not opposed to doing the shot his Endo recommended it . He is a very healthy boy . I am having a hard time understanding the benefits ?? Help thank you all in advance
Hello definitely go for it.....I did in September....have just come out of hospital after getting flu. If I had not had the shot I'd have been by far worse, and I was pretty bad. Your choice but I'd say yes.....Hi everyone,
I am the mother of s 10 yr old boy that is s T1D. His Endo recommends getting a flu shot(we are newly diagnosed) my son has always been healthy and I don't think in his life he has every actually gotten the flu ? If he ever has it was a light case. Any opinions? I am not opposed but I am not sure if he really needs it? Dr explained that he now has a compromised immune system and that I light case could turn severe. Any thoughts ? Thanks
My grandaughters just had the spray up their nose and were fine with it and they are only 4 & 3 one in preschool one in primaryHere's a link from the NHS concerning the flu jab for kids, you should be able to get the nasal spray and avoid the injection
