FOOD COMBINATIONS AND BALANCE MATTER

Many people with diabetes claim to avoid carbohydrates like the plague; however, carbohydrates are essential for health. Some others claim or try to avoid all fats, and yet, fats are essential for life. Some claim to avoid all salt or sodium, and yet it too is essential to life.

Something many do not understand is the importance of combinations and balance and the differences between healthy choices and choices that are not. Some also give up because they are not perfect.

@CRPetersen, sorry to put a dampener on you but carbohydrates are not essential for health when fats are, as the body can and does synthesise carbs as it needs them.

Carbs are vegetables, grains, and fruit. How do you live without any of those?

Hi, again.
I replied the last time you posted on here.
You have done really well the way you have adapted your lifestyle and balance to suit you.
Admittedly you cannot get away from all carbs, as there are very low alternatives to them.
I very low carb, because I have to!
My body is in balance without them.
It's just the way I am. By the way, I'm weird!
But the point I would like to make is, I'm in control without them, so my blood glucose levels are in control.
But with carbs, my life is hell and my bloods are not in control and out of balance.
So what should I do?
This is a question I've asked many times.
Do I eat carbs because everybody says I should for my health?
Or do I eat hardly any because I feel great, and my health has never been better?
My balance is spot on, my health has been described as perfect for my age and I'm fitter now at sixty, than I was at forty. Go figure!

So, please explain how you are using the word 'carbs'?

Because your first post implied that many diabetics avoid carbs like the plague.
Then you next post announces that veg are carbs and are vital to health.
I know a heck of a lot of ppl on this forum who avoid sugars, starchy carbs and grains, but eat masses of veg - which contain carbohydrate.

There are a lot of contradictions in your posts - so think you need to clarify.

(I avoid carbs, while eating more than 5 portions of fruit and veg, but the Inuits didn't eat that amount of 'carb' and were healthy. See what i mean about contradictions?)

I don't eat grains at all, small pieces through the day if I have fruit, above ground veg, is fine for me!

He does it quite easily, carbs are not all they are cracked up to be, they are addictive and unfortunately all the processed **** that we find in our supermarkets these days are absolutely loaded with them.

While someone can survive on meat for a time, no one can live a long and healthy life on meat alone. Sorry.

. . . . . . however, carbohydrates are essential for health.

Not really, although glucose is, and if we want, we can get that from protein and fat. It is the preferred method to obtain glucose from carbohydrate rather than from protein or fat since it is easier, quicker and more efficient.(Source - Rosacea Research and Development Institute.

So what you say, I shouldn't be healthy?
You are unfortunately following the dictate that you can only live with carbs!
Not so!
There are numerous examples all over the world, where this is not so.
I myself have already stated, I don't eat many at all.
I am healthy and I have a very active life, even my endocrinologist says that I shouldn't eat many because of what they do to me!
You definitely do not need carbs and I've no doubt there will be other posters saying the same.
Carbs are bad for me and as a diabetic, probably bad for you!

Brown bread is bread, so you are eating bread, which contradicts what you say in your first sentence. Why are you avoiding fat? Natural fat is healthy, you just need to avoid veg/seed oils and chemically made trans-fats.
