Food or Dextrose tablets?

When you say you spike at an hour and crash back down; what do you reach at an hour?

To be fair, very few T2s on Metformin or diet alone manage to eat cereal at breakfast time because our insulin resistance tends to be strongest then, so many might find a bowl of cereal would peak higher when consumed in the morning than if they ate it later in the day.

If you can't tackle eggs, what about bacon? You could batch cook it and have it cold when you have a moment. The protein+fat is likely to be a significantly different peak, and quite likely keep you feeling fuller for longer, and (this bit is my feeling) I doubt you would have the feelings you have, even if the numbers on your meter said the same 4.5.

But please do let me know what your peak is because a high, pronto, peak (and for now, I have no idea if your peak is high or higher than you would like to see) can result in an equally rapid rebound down, often ending up lower than before you ate at a couple of hours or shortly thereafter.

Just for completeness, everyone's blood level goes up a bit when they eat, it's just a case of by how much, for how long it stays there, and where it ends up.

You have done very well to get your numbers down and lose weight, I stay sugar free or as near as dame it and I feel amazing, I eat throughout the day, oats, protein veg carbs dairy and snack on fruit.i eat every 3 or 4 hours to keep stable, after a few months of eating healthy you should feel better. I would eat food not dextrose tablets the gut likes food, little and often of the right foods. Good luck on your journey.

I prefer to eat food. Though I have dextrose tabs at work, in my car and in my handbag I have not eaten one in 2 years. If I go lowish I have a few veggies. A radish will raise me about 7 as ridiculous as that sounds. The only carbs we have in the house ( besides my dreaded dextrose tabs) is veggies and hummus that my husband eats. In the rare circumstance a little hummus on my radish puts me in safe zone.
When 1st diagnosed I had lots of hypos and ate lots of dextrose tabs. Then I refined my diet and insulin doses and all has been well for 2 years.

I could never eat any amount of cereal for BF. Do you like avocados? I either eat avocado / guacamole with celery OR a piece of lettuce with mayo and some deli meat ( any sandwich filling). No reason we have to eat BF food in the morning. I actually prefer eggs later in the day.
