Food Poisoning

hi all

Me n hubby have got up with food poisoning today.
This is the first time i have been violently sick since being diagnosed, have not taken my morning meds yet (1000mg metformin) as worried will just bring it back up.
just wondered if there's anything different i need to do now i'm diabetic?
any help/ advice would be appreciated.

Metformin is not a quick acting drug so don't worry about it just now as taking it later will not alter things too much.
Concentrate on keeping yourself hydrated and take the met once you are settled.
 
Should be fine to hold of on the metformin can you ring your GP or nurse? I had food poisoning a couple of years ago and after speaking to my GP he said it would be fine to stop it for a few days and to take Imodium - but don't do this without speaking to someone first. Sip room temperature water with a pinch of salt and half a teaspoon of sugar, don't drink it fast a small sip every 15 minutes or so will help keep you hydrated.

If you are sick for more than 24 hrs you should contact your GP for advice - test your BG if you have a meter - you may be higher because you are ill but just keep an eye on it - hope your better soon
