So this weekend while out on a ride, I contrived to break my ischium (yes I had to look it up too).
Doc says I need to spend at least 4 weeks immobile for the bone to knit. I am coming back to the UK around June 20th so need to ensure the bone repairs itself in good time. I know rehab follows etc.
Which diabetes friendly foods promote bone knitting? Supplements are ok too.
As a T2 who is diet controlled I made sure I have enough vit d (D3) as my level tends to be low - going low carb helped a lot as I eat more cheese plus full fat yogurt and milk. I also have fresh salmon nearly every week and plenty of eggs plus green veg every day for vit c and iron.
I think we have similar diets. Soy milk, tofu, and fish are widely available here. Do you think that a Vitamin D supplement might accelerate the healing? It will be a 13 hour flight so I need to be fixed, even if rehab is not started.
