Hi, for just over a week now I've had terrible pain in the top of my foot and now ankle, it's mainlywhen I walk well try to walk. Theres no swelling and I can't get a gp appointment but also don't want to waste there time.
I've been taking ibuprofen and applying ibuprofen gel. It is also kind of throbbing. x

Have you had tests for Gout? This happened to me and I was astonished to find that it was the cause of my pain. I'd always thought that gout affected the big toe and I had no idea that it could give you problems elsewhere.

No, I haven't... doesn't gout cause swelling???

If you're getting lots of pain, and can't walk properly, I put it to you that you won't be wasting anyone's time by going to see your GP. It may be a sprain, or some such, that will mend with time, or you may have done something that - if it's not seen to - will get worse and perhaps become a permanent issue. I don't personally think anyone on here can diagnose the problem because, by and large, we're not healthcare professionals and in any event we can't conduct an examination of your foot.

So - I urge you to make an appointment to see your GP or, if you really aren't able to do that (and I know what a pain it can be to try and do so) go to the nearest A&E and insist on sitting there until someone will see you.

I hope it's something completely trivial that will sort itself out, but don't take any chances.....

My friend has same problem & was diagnosed as gout. Doesn't necessarily swell up but is very tender. Apart from meds she has found cutting out red meat, strong cheese & red wine had improved it a great deal

You're in terrible pain, it's important to get a GP appointment. Tell them you will go to A&E if they don't fit you in. If you can't walk for it it's an emergency....

Just happy being me

Good advice

Sorry for not responding sooner...I did end up going to see the GP, who said it was metatarsalgia....however once I researched it all, I don't seem to have many of the symptoms at all, so therefore do not think that is what it was!! My foot is alot better now...still not 100% but I can walk normally again!

I can refer myself to the physio at my GP surgery if needs be though!

Thank you for all of your advice x
