Hi my name is michael getty I am type 2 diabetic, I was diagnosed 13 years ago i developed neuropathy in my feet a number of years ago, 7 weeks ago I got a little cut under my foot and thought nothing of it (big mistake)it developed into an ulcer by the time I sought help it had turned into a hole on the base of my foot which resulted in 2 operations and a 2 week stay in. Hospital,I now have an vac on my foot to aid in the healing my wound, so if you get a cut no matter how small seek medical advice as soon as you can.

Thanks for flashing that to us. No matter the amount of theory we get bashed with, first hand encounters like this brings home the message. If anyone out there has similar issues ie Neruopathy then its best to treat yourself with a constant vigil for samll cuts etc. My nerves are dead in both my legs from about mid thigh to just my knees so I have to be wary when I wear shorts. My feet , bless them, are still ok.

sorry you have an ulcer and hope you see your gp

Yes, thanks for showing us the photo. It's the sort of thing you don't think will ever happen to you. I will be careful to check my feet now though. I hope it heals well for you now that you have had the proper medical attention.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

It's scary how quickly these things can get out of control. I was diagnosed with neuropathy last year, thankfully nothing like you are going through has happened to me (yet). Good reminder to us all to keep check of our feet. They are the only pair we get!

Very sorry to hear thank, thank you for reminding me how important it is to take care of feet. I'm usually pretty good but shocked when I returned from holiday recently, where I'd not worn shoes or socks for most of the time, only to find all shapes and sizes of gravel embedded in my feet. Note to self, wear flip flops, that's what they're there for.

As others have said, thanks for sharing us and giving us a sharp reminder to check our feet. I tend to go for weeks without looking at them to find in Summer they've started to crack.
Let's hope this ulcer heels quickly for you. All the best,
